Investment in geological exploration increases 3-fold in Kyrgyzstan

The volume of foreign direct investment aimed at geological exploration in Kyrgyzstan has increased 3.3-fold in the first nine months of 2019.

According to the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, FDI in manufacturing enterprises increased 2.3-fold, and in wholesale and retail trade — by 25%.

At the same time, investments in financial intermediation and insurance decreased by 11.2%, in information and communication sector — by 2.5%, and in mining enterprises — by 0.6%.

The total volume of foreign direct investment in Kyrgyzstan amounted to $576.8 million for the nine months of this year an increased by 67.3% compared to the same period last year.

The largest share of FDI was from in China (37.3%), Canada (19.9%), the UK (13.2%), the Netherlands (8.1%), and Turkey (4.4%).
