Meeting on open skies policy

Chairman of the IBC Tourism Committee Stiphan Beher and IBC lawyer Ulukbek Turdubekov took part in a meeting of the Secretary of Business Development and Investment Council under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic to discuss the possibility of introduction of an open skies policy in the Kyrgyz Republic. The meeting was attended by heads of relevant government agencies (Director of Civil Aviation Agency under the Ministry of Transport and Communications A. Omuraliev and Director of the Tourism Department under the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism A. Jamankulov), representatives of the Economy Ministry and Ministry of Transport and Communications, heads of private companies operating in the tourism sector (E. Umetaliev, Kyrgyz Concept and B. Mambetov, Air Kyrgyzstan) and representatives of tourism associations. According to the meeting participants, It is necessary to introduce the open skies policy but with limitations. It was proposed to introduce the fifth and sixth degree of open skies. Representatives of state bodies proposed to define a number of countries, for which the fifth and sixth degrees will be opened but representatives of the private sector proposed to apply this policy to all countries. This issue will be discussed at the next meeting of the Investment Council.
