New visa categories introduced in Kyrgyzstan

A new version of the Instruction on the procedure for issuing visas of the Kyrgyz Republic entered into force on January 15, 2020.

The Instruction is aimed at facilitating the conditions and procedures for issuing permits to citizens of foreign countries, specifying the goals of their trips, eliminating the possibility of illegal employment, as well as improving the work of the Electronic Visa, reported by the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The instruction provides for new categories of visas, which depend on the various travel purposes.

The Mounting Tourism Visa will be issued to foreign tourists for 3 months at once with the possibility of multiple entries.

To facilitate the conditions of entry into the country and stay of ethnic Kyrgyz and former compatriots, new categories of visas have also been created:

- Tuugandar Visa (Relatives Visa) - applying for a visa immediately for up to one year to visit relatives or family reunion.

- Meken Visa with the possibility of registration valid for one year will be issued free of charge to ethnic Kyrgyz, as well as to persons born in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic or the Kyrgyz SSR, for visiting or returning to the Kyrgyz Republic, with the possibility of subsequent obtaining the status of kayrylman and residence permit.

- Meyman Visa (Guest Visa) will be issued for private trips at the invitation of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic who are not related by kinship with each other, including for visiting friends or receiving medical services.
