USAID’s Future Growth Initiative (FGI) officially kicked off program activities in the Kyrgyz Republic with a round table discussion between public and private sectors focused on increasing competitiveness of key sectors including Information and Communications Technologies, Tourism, Light manufacturing, and Food and beverage.
Representatives of 19 companies, development banks, associations, and donor programs attended the event. Key Kyrgyz Government counterparts also supported the launch.
At the event, FGI introduced its partnership-based strategy to engage lead firms and associations to address critical business constraints related to competitiveness, workforce development, and business enabling environment. The project will co-invest with partners to unlock financing, create jobs, expand market linkages, and create opportunities for small and medium enterprises throughout supply chains.
Representatives of the donors’ projects as well as public authorities discussed opportunities for cooperation in selected sectors and provided some concrete activities where FGI could contribute technical assistance.
