IBC takes part in the MINEX Central Asia forum

On June 19-20, 2024, the 10th MINEX Central Asia Mining and Exploration Forum was held in Bishkek under the general theme "The Prospects and Scenarios for Sustainable Development of the Mining Industry in Central Asia." ]More than 100 companies and organizations from 22 countries of Central Asia, Europe, China, North America and the Middle East took part in the forum.

On June 19, the IBC head Askar Sydykov moderated the 3rd plenary session “Unleashing Mining Potential: the leading role of rising champions and international investors.”

The session was attended by heads of leading mining companies – President of Kumtor Gold Company CJSC Almazbek Baryktabasov, General Director of KAZ Minerals Bozymchak LLC Ilyas Tulekeyev, General Director of Eti Bakyr Tereksai LLC Alp Togay, Chairman of the Board of Chaarat Gold Holdings Ltd. Martin Andersson and others, as well as Narynbek Satybaldiev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Kyrgyzaltyn OJSC.

Plenary sessions examined prospects and scenarios for sustainable development of the Kyrgyzstan's mining industry, opportunities for more environmentally friendly practices in the Central Asian mining sector, the best available solutions for mineral processing, including increasing productivity and sustainability, and other topics.

During the second day, four plenary sessions were held, in which representatives of foreign campaigns from Sweden, England, and Kazakhstan took part.

The technical session provided information on modern equipment in the geological industry. In addition, short-format meetings were held with the participation of the Geological Service of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic

There were also meetings between various campaigns and investors. During the forum, 57 reports were heard, eight plenary sessions were held, and eight cooperation agreements were signed.

During the forum, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Akylbek Japarov, met with representatives of a number of international companies. In particular, issues of investment in a joint plant for the production of concrete canvas in Kyrgyzstan were discussed with a representative of the British company Concrete Canvas Ltd, Darren Hughes.

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers also discussed issues of expanding cooperation with Dr. Tim Lax, managing director of the British company SRK Consulting, and Markku Teräsvasara, President of the Finnish company Metso, a world leader in the field of sustainable development technologies in mineral processing and metallurgy.

With the Managing Director and Partner at Boston Consulting Group, (BCG) Andrei Navitsky, the need to develop a strategy for the mining industry of Kyrgyzstan was discussed. The development prospects of the enterprise and further plans for the development of the Chaarat gold deposit were discussed with the management of Chaarat Gold Holdings Ltd.

The event ended with a presentation of investment projects.
