The Kyrgyz-Pakistani business forum was held on November 10, 2023 by the International Business Council together with the Embassy of Pakistan with the participation of the Minister of Energy, Power and Petroleum of Pakistan Muhammad Ali and the Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic Daniyar Amangeldiev.

The event took place as part of the visit of the Pakistan Energy Minister and the delegation of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) to Bishkek to participate in the 4th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Pakistan intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation.

Delivering welcoming speeches at the forum, Muhammad Ali and Daniyar Amangeldiev expressed their readiness for active dialogue and practical actions to further deepen bilateral cooperation. The importance of expanding interaction between the business communities of the two countries was also noted by Suleman Chawla, the FPCCI Senior Vice President.

According to IBC Executive Director Askar Sydykov, moderator of the forum, the event was small, but very productive.

“There is great potential for cooperation in the energy, trade and logistics, agricultural, pharmaceutical and other areas between the businesses of Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan and between our countries. Recently, the leadership of the National Logistics Corporation of Pakistan (NLC) visited our country, and now the Energy Minister has arrived. This indicates an increased interest in intensifying bilateral trade and economic cooperation between our countries, said the IBC head.

Kyrgyzstan has great potential in hydropower, solar and wind energy. Our headwater country uses only 10 percent of its hydropower potential.

“Therefore, we, on the part of the business community, are also making efforts to increase the hydropower capacity of our country, as well as attract investors and implement joint projects in Kyrgyzstan. Such visits help intensify cooperation,” Askar Sydykov said.
