Kyrgyzstan preparing for Green Economy Week

On October 16, the Interdepartmental Working Group at the Economy Ministry continued discussion of the action plan for preparing for the Green Economy Week in Kyrgyzstan scheduled for November 11-15, 2019.

The event will be held by the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic in cooperation with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the UN Agencies Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) Initiative and with the participation of business associations on the civil sector.

A representative of the International Business Council is a WG member.

The Kyrgyz Republic is actively engaged in the transition to a green economy, which allows for more efficient use of resources and widespread use of environmentally friendly technologies and innovations.

To achieve sustainable development that advances human life quality, social justice, efficient use of resources and wide application of environmentally friendly technologies and innovations, the Kyrgyz Republic has started to build a framework towards transition to green economy.

The Green Week 2019 will provide comprehensive approach and ensure interagency coordination and important insights from stakeholders.

The Week can serve as a vehicle to promote green economy issues through exhibitions of green technologies in Bishkek and Osh; thematic seminars, round tables related to green economy; series of trainings and practical meetings.
