European Union launches SWITCH-Asia program

On July 5, the official launch ceremony of the European Union SWITCH-Asia program took place in Bishkek.

The program aims to support sustainable consumption, production and the transition to a green economy.

The participants discussed the challenges and opportunities related to sustainable consumption and production, as well as the preparation of work plans for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan for the next three years.

The event was held by the Sustainable Consumption and Production Fund (SCP Fund) in cooperation with the European Commission, the Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development and the relevant European Union representations.

Representatives of national governments, the EU, UN agencies and key stakeholders (business, academia, non-governmental organizations, micro, small and medium enterprises, etc.) participated in interactive discussions on the importance and necessity of promoting SCP models in Central Asia.
