Conference discusses problems of the regions, identified ways to solve them

On February 27-28, 2019, the conference “National Dialogue on Regional Development”, held with the participation of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, discussed problems hampering the development of the regions, and identified ways to solve them.

President Sooronbai Jeenbekov informed on measures to create a favorable business environment in the country and problems of business and investors in the regions at the conference “The Kyrgyz Republic: National Dialogue on Regional Development” held.

A two-year moratorium on business inspections by government regulatory agencies was introduced. New enterprises are exempt from inspections for three years. Agricultural processing enterprises and trade and logistics centers are provided with VAT benefits. A Business Ombudsman Institution will protect the interests of entrepreneurs.

However, conflicts between investors and the local population, as well as excessive bureaucracy, generating corruption are hindering the attraction of foreign investors, the President said. There are no exact criteria for the selection of investment projects of entrepreneurs and their financing.

The forum was attended by leaders of all government branches, business representatives, including IBC, expert and civil society and donor partner organizations.

The participants developed recommendations on creating favorable conditions for the development of the business environment and investment climate in the regions, including the involvement of civil society institutions in the processes of public control over the implementation of regional policy.
