UCA invites you to take part in the Regional Civil Society Conference

The University of Central Asia (UCA) is pleased to invite you to take part in the Regional Civil Society Conference – “New pathways to development” which will be held on 17 May, 2019 in Hyatt Hotel Bishkek.

The conference will bring together Central Asian and international experts and opinion leaders, representatives of the government and non-government sector, active civil society actors, diplomatic missions, business community, academia and mass media to gather collaborative efforts to understand and advance further for policy and practice that will foster collective action and build greater legitimacy of civil society across the region. To achieve this UCA-Civil Society Initiative will convene conference with panel discussions around critical issues and coordinate with other agencies to disseminate CSI research findings and further possible action around recommendations.

UCA was founded in 2000 as a private, not for profit, secular university through an International Treaty signed by the Presidents of the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan, and His Highness the Aga Khan, ratified by their respective parliaments and registered with the United Nations. The Presidents are the Patrons of the University and His Highness is the Chancellor. UCA brings with it the broader commitment and partnership of the Aga Khan Development Network.

The Civil Society Initiative as a part of UCA` Graduate Scholl of Development established in 2017 and works to foster an enabling policy and administrative environment for civil society in Central Asia and assist the development of a broad spectrum of civil society actors. CSI promotes the building of domestic institutional and leadership capacity, under three over-arching pillars of skills, knowledge and resources.
