The impact of the current situation in Kazakhstan on the Kyrgyz market, possible difficulties in securing supplies were discussed on January 7 by representatives of the business community and government agencies at a meeting at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce with the participation of Deputy Minister Eldar Alisherov.

In general, the situation in Kyrgyzstan’s market is stable, and deliveries are proceeding as usual, both by rail and by road, the Economy Ministry informed.

Currently, the Chaldovar and Chon-Kapka checkpoints are fully functioning. At the Ak-Tilek checkpoint, the passage of goods has been temporarily suspended due to technical problems of communication networks, the elimination of which is expected in the near future, the ministry said.

According to the ministry, the reserves of fuels and lubricants and food to meet the needs of the domestic market are sufficient for more than two months.

“The Economy Ministry is ready to promptly consider all appeals of entrepreneurs and freight carriers, respond to them and help business. For their part, business associations hold meetings with entrepreneurs, members of associations and promptly bring this information to the competent authorities,” said IBC head Askar Sydykov.

There are certain delays in the passage of transit goods, including through Kazakhstan, but their arrival is expected. It is assumed that the situation will stabilize over the next few days.

“There is no exact information yet about the passage of our goods from China through Kazakhstan, through the Khorgos checkpoint on the border of Kazakhstan and the PRC. There are appeals from entrepreneurs about the non-passage of goods through this checkpoint,” said Sydykov.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and promptly inform the authorized bodies, including the Economy Ministry. It’s good that the Ministry organized the meeting so quickly, business really needed it, the IBC head concluded.
