The International Business Council held the second Forum of suppliers of goods and services for the mining industry in Kyrgyzstan on October 28, 2021.

The forum was attended by First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Arzybek Kojoshev, representatives of government agencies, mining companies (subsoil users), suppliers of goods and services in the field of geotechnical, design and research and drilling and blasting operations, expertise, supply of equipment, components materials, petroleum products, as well as banking, insurance and other services.

“For the development of competitive domestic production, it is very important to timely introduce new technologies, quality standards and international management. All this comes through the establishment of cooperation of local business with large regional and global companies”, said Arzybek Kojoshev, welcoming the forum participants.

“The mining industry and suppliers attending the event represent major global companies and corporations. Therefore, we hope that such forums will help our enterprises grow and develop," he added.

This was the second time IBC has held such a forum, continuing the tradition. During the first one, which took place in 2019, economic ties were established and contracts were concluded for tens of millions of soms. Significant results are expected following the results of the last forum.

First of all, the event is aimed at increasing the volume of purchases on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, increasing the potential of local producers of goods and services.

Collaboration often fails due to a lack of information. Subsoil users do not always know where and what purchases can be made within the country. At the same time, they are ready to buy more from local companies and enterprises.

In the measures contained in the Presidential decree on the issues of reforming the mining industry, as well as in the draft Mining Code, one of the main goals provides for a significant increase in the volume of purchases of goods and services on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic, that is, from the local population. Therefore, the IBC event contributes to the development of domestic producers of goods and services for the industry.

The second forum was attended by 10 largest companies — subsoil users, 16 supplier companies as exhibitors and dozens of companies as visitors.

Representatives of the largest mining companies answered all the questions of suppliers of goods and services right on the spot.

“The Forum makes the work of such companies easier because this is where we can meet potential partners,” said Nargiz Assakunova, Deputy General Director of Highland Exploration.

“This forum serves as a springboard for our future activities, and we have been participating in it for the second year already,” said Tilek Toktobai uulu, a representative of the supplier of special equipment, Xinbei Group in Kyrgyzstan.

“This is what makes our forum unique as it brings together suppliers and buyers. We hope it will become a permanent platform for increasing the supply and services of domestic producers and their development, as well as for holding exhibitions of goods and services in other industries — construction, finance, processing industry, agriculture, clothing industry, and many others," concluded IBC Executive Director Askar Sydykov.
