The IBC Mineral Resources Committee meeting on November 12 began with the presentation of certificates to new IBC members working in the mining sector — the Ken-Too Design and Research Center, Orion LLC, Spektr PK, KEMIN Mining and TK Geo Resource.

Dastan Imanaliev, IBC Deputy Executive Director, and Aicholpon Alieva, Chair of the IBC Mineral Resources Committee, reported on the results of the work done recently.

During the reporting period, the MRC discussed issues of investment protection and the observance of the rights of entrepreneurs, legal aspects of decriminalization of economic cases at various platforms.

Particular attention was paid to the activities of fiscal and law enforcement agencies that have a negative impact on doing business and attracting investment.

Due to the epidemiological situation, IBC was actively involved in the development of proposals for the Government’s anti-crisis plans. All proposals were developed taking into account the opinion of IBC members, including representatives of the mining sector.

During the October events, many of the country's deposits were attacked and threatened by aggressive local residents. IBC was active in the media to convey the importance of the activities of mining enterprises for the country's economy. IBC also took part in meetings with the new leadership of the country at various platforms, including the Business Development and Investment Council under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Based on the results of IBC's appeals, the Government created a commission for explanatory work, and the acting President and Prime Minister visited the deposits and met with the local community.

The participants of the MRC meeting exchanged views on the current situation in the mining sector and the prospects for its development. They considered such important issues for the industry as the assessment of damage to enterprises in the events of October 2020 and the possibility of resuming production at the deposits.

The Committee members also considered changes and amendments to the legislation in the field of subsoil use.
