Transparency International will evaluate corruption risks in licensing

On April 18, the Transparency International Kyrgyzstan Anti-Corruption Research Center held an event dedicated to launching a study on the assessment of corruption risks in the field of licensing of mineral resources as a part of the Transparency International’s Mining for Sustainable Development Program (M4SD).

Working with Transparency International national chapters from across the globe, the program is building foundations for accountable and transparent mining that benefits communities, and supports social and economic development. The meeting was attended by representatives of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use of the Kyrgyz Republic (SCIESU), the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of the Kyrgyz Republic, and the business community, including the International Business Council.

SCIESU Chairman Emil Osmonbetov informed on the results on combating corruption in the system of subsoil use and proposed to unite efforts to reduce the risks of corruption in the industry.

Transparency International (TI) is a leading global non-governmental organization with offices in more than 100 countries around the world with an international secretariat in Berlin.

Its nonprofit purpose is to take action to combat global corruption with civil societal anti-corruption measures and to prevent criminal activities arising from corruption.
