Economic Journalism Club discusses business activity in Kyrgyzstan

On July 31, the second module of the Economic Journalism Club (EJC) was held on the theme "Economics and business: business activity in Kyrgyzstan".

The EJC was created by the International Business Council with the support from the U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan.

Co-founder of the Ololo Center, Daniyar Amanaliev, shared with the project participants how to start building a business even with minimal investments.

Anastasia Valeyeva, expert of the Data School Kyrgyzstan, and Nazgul Konurbaeva and Aisuluu Tekimbaeva from the Capital media company taught the audience how to create infographics in Datawrapper. This is an interactive application for creating charts and tables that journalists use most often in their materials to attract the attention of readers and increase the audience's involvement.

The project participants were particularly interested in the presentations of business association leaders. Temirbek Azhikulov, Board Chairman of the JIA Business Associat spoke about the role of SMEs in the structure of the country's economy, and Askar Sydykov, IBC Executive Director, told the audience about the role of large enterprises.

The honorary guest of the program was a prominent public figure, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security, MP Abdyvakhap Nurbayev, who is also Deputy Chairman of the Business and Entrepreneurship Development Council under Parliament Speaker. Therefore, he is aware of all the problems and initiatives of business and directly participates in their discussion.

Another guest, Executive Director of the BizExpert Analytical Center Uluk Kydyrbaev, spoke about the latest initiatives to enhance the role of business associations.

The guests also answered questions from the current and future journalists.

The trainings ended with the presentation of the topic for the upcoming contest for the best work of the project participants.
