IBC Committee considers crucial issues that affect the activities of subsoil users

On March 1, the IBC Mineral Resources Committee discussed issues that require an early solution: the use of compensatory measures for the cutting of particularly valuable tree species, the improvement of the Procedure for the export and import of ores and concentrates containing precious metals, and the deadline for the approval of the labor quota for foreign citizens.

Specialists of Kaz Minerals Bozymchak, Eti Bakyr Tereksay and Vertex Gold Company spoke aout barriers hindering the successful operation of mining companies.

The Committee also heard a report for 2017 presented by Cchair Aicholpon Jorupbekova.

Representatives of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use of the Kyrgyz Republic and IBC members and partners took part in the discussion.

Specific tasks were given on each issue:

• hold an extended meeting on the Procedure for the export and import of ores and concentrates containing precious metals;

• submit a letter to the relevant state authorities on the problems faced by the IBC members when cutting valuable species of trees, in particular, juniper trees;

• submit a letter to the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic with recommendations on improving the legislation regarding labor permits to foreign citizens;

• ask the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic (SAEPF) to hold a roundtable to present the Draft Environmental Code to the IBC members.
